The Samsung Galaxy S III press image for T-Mobile leaks, shows off different style
Consumer electronics blog, TheVerge, received a press shot of the Samsung Galaxy S III that can be seen above. The device will likely launch in the same marble white and pebble blue we have heard so much about. Interestingly enough, the T-Mobile variant bears very strong resemblance to the European/International Galaxy S III model. There is a large home button in the middle of the device surrounded by the capacitive menu button and the capacitive back button. Typically, the bottom of an American Android smartphone contains four capacitive buttons.
The shift away from this ideal to a center and physical home button simply goes to show the influence Samsung now possesses over American carriers. As of now, we are hoping the Samsung Galaxy S III launches later this month, but we have yet to hear of official launch dates or pricing from any American carrier.

Samsung Galaxy S III coming to AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon, and U.S. Cellular – in the same form factor
Samsung also revealed a first for a Galaxy S device – there will be no major hardware deviations for each carrier. All five of the carriers just named will carry the same form factor seen on the Galaxy S III in Europe. There will be no epic, captivating, or vibrant departures for the basic design; phones will be internally fitted to work on their respective carrier, but the design will remain consistent.
We expected multiple carriers of the Galaxy S III, but didn’t think Samsung would be able to break the chain of having to tailor a new design to each U.S. carrier. This is a big shift and a bit surprisingly. The continuity means that we can expect the following specs in all of the phones:
4.8-inch Super AMOLED display with thin bezel
8.6 mm thin and 4.7 ounces light
2 GB of RAM
Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 1.5 GHz dual core CPU
Corning Gorilla Glass 2.0
2100 mAh battery
16 or 32 GB internal storage with microSD slot
Android 4.0 running Touchwiz UX
Pricing and availability for the the Galaxy S III will be announced by each carrier separately. If you hold a contract with any of the majors, the Galaxy S III is now an option for you. Here’s a few other software features touted by the company.
SAMSUNG SOFTWARE HIGHLIGHTS
- S-Beam is an industry first, providing fast, easy transfer of large files, such as videos and documents, with a single touch of the Galaxy S III without needing a Wi-Fi connection or cell signal. A 1GB movie file can be shared as quickly as three minutes and a 10MB music file can be transferred in seconds by simply touching another GALAXY S III phone.
- The S-Voice™ feature on the Galaxy S III offers much more than just asking and answering questions. S-Voice allows users to control the applications and services used most with words instead of touch. Use S-Voice to turn the volume up or down on the music player, answer or reject incoming calls, shut off or choose to snooze the alarm clock, or take a picture by saying “smile” or “cheese.”
- Smart Stay puts the “smart” in smartphones. With Smart Stay, the Galaxy S III tracks the user’s eye to ensure the device screen is always on while you’re looking at it. By knowing when you are looking at the screen, it doesn’t dim the backlight or timeout to an idle screen.
- Motion simplifies and short cuts many common functions including converting a text message to a call by simply raising the phone to the ear, tapping the top of the phone to go to the top of an email and list of emails or contacts, and alerting to missed call or text message.
- The capabilities of the Galaxy S III’s 8 megapixel camera are far beyond point and shoot. Burst Shotcaptures still pictures at a rapid-fire pace at three images per second with zero shutter lag; and Best Shotrecommends the best picture to keep based on colors, lighting and clarity. The Galaxy S III shoots and plays back 1080p HD quality video with a backside illuminated sensor that improves performance in low light environments, and provides the ability to capture a photo during videoing
- Watching video while downloading a large file or service is seamless with Pop Up Play. Pop Up Play allows you to watch any side-loaded video content while operating any application in full-screen, background view at the same time. Video running on Pop Up Play can be moved anywhere on top of the full screen, much like picture-in-picture capabilities on large screen TVs.

T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II t989 android 4.0 update
It seems the long awaited android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich firmware for the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II t989 is finally ready to be pushed out, the official twitter account just announced that ICS is coming via Samsung Kies starting 6/11, and it will provide more details soon.
So, this is the latest and officially official claim that the Samsung t989 is to be receive the android 4.0 firmware update. To be able to install the firmware update on your phone, I think you have to make sure you have all the preparations done. On of them should be the LDE software update that T-Mobile released ten days ago.
If you still didn’t install the LDE software update, you should install it as quickly as possible on your T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II, don’t let it affect the android 4.0 update. The update is still on wave, you can check it and install it anytime by the end of this month.
Then let’s stay tuned for more details on the ICS update for the Samsung Galaxy S II t989, I will do my best to provide the changelog of this update here as soon as I can. Hope there are some great features which the Samsung Galaxy S III have in the update package.

T-Mobile Samsung Exhibit II T679 receives LE1 android 2.3.6 firmware update
Just a few days the T-Mobile version Samsung Galaxy S II received its android 4.0 ICS firmware update. When the android 4.0 is still on its way to some of the T989 device that wait for it, another firmware update was sent out via OTA and also Samsung Kies. That is the android 2.3.6 Gingerbread firmware update for the Samsung Exhibit II T679.
To Samsung T679 users, you know you can’t expect the android 4.0 arrive to your handset, but your phone is still running on android 2.3.5, so, upgrade the ROM to android 2.3.6 is also a big candy for your phone.
Besides the OS version will be pushed to android 2.3.6, the 33MB package also brings some improvements and enhancements to your Samsung Exhibit II, such as:
Google Security Fix
Device stability improvements
Wi-Fi Calling audio improvements
Camera app improvements
Swype corporate email improvements
To avoid data fee that may be caused during the OTA update process, I advise you upgrade the firmware via the last Samsung Kies software, you can find the software update tool here. Then if you check the phones software version, you should find the phone’s name was changed to be Samsung Galaxy Exhibit 4G. Though the name is changed, I don’t think it will be able to enjoy the android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in the future.
